They are summarised as:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-block-list wp-elements-20035454197019ef3abccf7a00afb213\">\n<li><strong>Giving up \u2013 Steps 1 to 3<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cleaning up \u2013 Steps 4 to 7<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Making up \u2013 Steps 8 to 9<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keeping up \u2013 Steps 10 to 12.<\/strong><br><strong>The hallmarks of this programme are abstinence, lifelong adherence to its principles and relapse prevention. People who thoroughly follow this path rarely fail. Sometimes we just need to remind ourselves of the basic components of this simple programme. Do I fully understand the basic ideas and the actions I need to take?<br>AA is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven\u2019t been given the truth may die.
