The idea of freedom is<br>exciting, but he is still fearful to come out of his cell<br>because he\u2019s forgotten what the world is like. He<br>doesn\u2019t know how people will view him \u2013 perhaps<br>they will reject him. He knows how that feels. Very<br>carefully, he takes a few steps outside. Will he be<br>himself and face reality or will he slink in the<br>shadows, afraid of the consequences? It is a crucial<br>moment. Am I ready to leave the shadows and be<br>where I belong?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-fc8e958a3e90be254df60841b845e1ea\"><strong>Taking a leap of faith is always a challenge. Perhaps<br>that is the reason why the \u2018Promises\u2019, in the AA Big<br>Book, are so well known. There is no mention of<br>addiction in these promises because our new life has<br>no need for it. Any person, addicted or not, could<br>hardly fail to find them an inspiring and highly<br>desirable set of goals. Yet they are very achievable<br>for anyone prepared to work the Twelve Steps with<br>honesty, openness, and willingness to change.
