They are summarised as:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c2850f2055e5f104dd3ef5aa20888692\">\n<li class=\"has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background\">Giving up \u2013 Steps 1 to 3<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-db9b95d17dfe2119a959daadbc5b7413\">Cleaning up \u2013 Steps 4 to 7<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-black-color has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-57e678bbcf2bb1aee2217ecccd7a4d0e\">Making up \u2013 Steps 8 to 9<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-cyan-bluish-gray-background-color has-background\">Keeping up \u2013 Steps 10 to 12.<br><strong>The hallmarks of this programme are<br>abstinence, lifelong adherence to its principles<br>and relapse prevention. People who thoroughly<br>follow this path rarely fail. Sometimes we just<br>need to remind ourselves of the basic components<br>of this simple programme. Do I fully understand<br>the basic ideas and the actions I need to take?<br>AA is more than a set of principles; it is a<br>society of alcoholics in action.
