Doing things differently
Life is not a matter of waiting for events and hoping for the best. That may have been the state we ended up in, when our addiction was rampant, but things are different now. If we are to make spiritual progress, action is required. The process of taking positive action may be summarised as follows:
- Have a wish or idea to do something
- Visualise how you would do it and how that would make you feel
- Ask for guidance
- Commit to the action
- Do it!
Our thoughts, feelings and actions are all connected –we have our own personal way of doing things but we need to be sure that it is fit for purpose. Am I ready to follow a positive action plan?
Impulsiveness and thinking that I know best have proved in the past to be unsatisfactory methods of doing things. Today I see the value of taking time to consider my choices asking for guidance. I will remember that impulsiveness is old behaviour.
